Blue Origin, Club For The Future
Blue Origin was founded with a vision of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. Blue Origin envisions a time when people can tap into the limitless resources of space and enable the movement of damaging industries into space to preserve Earth, humanity’s blue origin.
Founded by Blue Origin, Club for the Future is a non-profit with the mission to inspire and mobilize future generations to pursue careers in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) for the benefit of Earth. The Club and its partners are doing this through the Postcards to Space program, providing space-focused lessons and events, and activating ambassadors around the world.
Club for the Future is proud to make space accessible to all humans through the Postcards to Space program. Anyone can draw or write their vision of the future on a postcard and Blue Origin will fly it to space and back on a future New Shepard mission. Club for the Future will then stamp them “flown to space” and return them to the creator.
We join forces with our partners and other organizations to reach underrepresented students and underserved communities so they can see themselves pursuing STEAM jobs and careers, supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion in aerospace.
Merrick & Company
Merrick & Company is an employee-owned engineering, architecture, surveying, and geospatial firm, headquartered in Greenwood Village, Colorado. Sears Merrick, a former engineering professor at the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, founded our company in 1955 in Denver. Our initial focus on structural engineering quickly expanded into power engineering, surveying and other types of engineering across Colorado.
Though Merrick has grown to serve customers outside of Colorado, we haven’t outgrown our founder’s belief in the value of employee ownership: “If a man works for himself, he is much more committed.”
Merrick provides services in five primary markets: National Security, Infrastructure, Energy, Life Sciences, and Manufacturing & Bioprocessing. Though we have a broad range of knowledge, our teams specialize in a particular market area to bring our clients the right solutions for the projects they encounter every day. We can then draw on the expertise in other market areas to bring new ideas and innovations to deliver a successful project that is customized to your needs.
Amazon Project Kuiper
Amazon Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. It is based out of a state-of-the-art facility in Redmond, Washington. The space is the size of more than four football fields and serves as our primary headquarters for research and development. It also handles our initial satellite manufacturing and qualification.
Project Kuiper will help connect billions of people around the world who don’t have reliable access to broadband. Poor connectivity means limited access to modern communications, education, health services, and other important resources, which can create an economic disadvantage for unserved and underserved communities. At the same time, the network will also serve a wide range of customers, including schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and others operating in places without reliable connectivity. Project Kuiper plans to deploy service to many countries around the globe.
Project Kuiper is a long-term initiative. Our FCC license requires that we deploy and operate at least half of our satellite constellation by July 2026. We launched our first two prototype satellites on October 6, 2023, and we expect to provide service to the earliest Project Kuiper customers by the end of 2024.
