Florida Space Day Returns to Tallahassee on January 22 Space Industry Leaders to Meet with State Legislators

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (January 15, 2020) – Now in its 27th year, Florida Space Day is an annual event bringing together a broad cross section of Florida’s aerospace community with the Governor, Lt. Governor and State Legislators to discuss the latest developments and importance of America’s space program, and encourage continued support for policies and investments that enable Florida to be a leader in space and to compete effectively for business expansion and job growth opportunities. In fact, the aerospace industry generates billions of dollars in annual economic impact and employs thousands of high-tech workers throughout the state of Florida.  To heighten awareness of the value of space to the state and the nation, Florida Space Day participants will return to Tallahassee on January 22, 2020.


What: The aerospace industry represents billions of dollars in annual economic impact in the State’s 67 counties. Florida Space Day advocates for Florida to become a critical part of the launch, processing, integration and supply chain opportunities for the aerospace industry. As of FY2015, according to research from the Florida State University Center for Economic Forecasting, more than $19 Billion of industry sales/revenues were reported.


Florida Space Day will feature a static display of space hardware and exhibits both in the Capitol Courtyard and at the Florida Space Day booth inside the Capitol Rotunda. For details on time and locations, please see the Event Schedule.


Who: Florida Space Day is comprised of industry leaders and partners from around the State of Florida.

Craig Technologies CEO and Founder Carol Craig is the 2020 Florida Space Day Chair. Space Florida President and CEO Frank DiBello serves as Co-Chair.


NASA Astronaut (Former) Sidney M. Gutierrez is the featured astronaut for 2020 Florida Space Day. Gutierrez, a retired Air Force Colonel, served as pilot of the Space Shuttle STS-40 mission and Commander of STS-59. Currently, Gutierrez serves as Chairman of the Board of Rocket Crafters, Inc., a 2020 Florida Space Day sponsor. He will be available throughout Florida Space Day for meet and greet opportunities.
